NOVO 4 is the latest Mouth To Lung pod system from famous vape manufacture SMOK. It is a modern-day vape kit that comes with various functions. Powered by an integrated 800mAh rechargeable battery, it features an adjustable wattage between 5-25W. It also delivers a controlled stream of air to create the ideal draw thanks to its adjustable airflow dial. Is the SMOK NOVO 4 worth buying and how does it perform? Let’s take a close look at it.

Build Quality and Design
SMOK NOVO 4 is a small and compact pod system. Measuring 93.5mm by 26.5mm by 17.7mm, it is an ultra-portable kit that fits snugly in your small jeans pocket. The SMOK Novo 4 is available in a variety of vibrant colours. My version for review is the cyan pink cobra, which looks very impressive. Constructed by durable zinc-alloy chassis, it is very comfortable to hold and features a decent lightweight.
The Smok Novo 4 remains a similar shape to the previous Novo series. It features a rounded edge that fits the palm properly. It comes with a rectangular button that is well presented on the lower part of the device. This Novo 4 features a one-button operation. You can press the fire button 5 times to turn the device on/ off and press it 2/3 times to adjust the wattage. Above the fire button, it has a tiny OLED display, which clearly shows the current wattage, resistance, battery level with percentage, and puff counts.
The Smok Novo 4 adopts an airflow dial to adjust the airflow. The pod holds nice and securely with the device. It features a simple oval pod port, with the positive and negative terminals inside, with the hole for the draw activation sensor.
Pod
The Smok Novo 4 pod is capable of holding 2ml vape juice. It uses 3 silicone rings to prevent leaking. When the coil is inserted into the pod, the added silicone ring on the bottom of the coil would fill the gap, effectively stemming the liquid leaking from the pod that results in a messy vaping experience or dirty hand.
It adopts a convenient side-fill design. A small fill hole, covered by a rubber/silicone bung, is well placed on one side of the pod. You can easily see the e-liquid level when the pod is removed. The mouthpiece boasts a translucent black and is comfortable to use.
How to fill with E-liquid
- Open the slot on the pod by pulling back the rubber plug.
- Inject up to 2mlof e-liquid into the slot and press the rubber plug back carefully and firmly.
- Firmly push the pod back into the Novo4 device.
- Wait 2-3 minutes before vaping.
Performance
The coil comes with two 0.8ohm LP1 mesh coils. I tested this coil with the Riot Squad Punx Blackcurrant & Watermelon Nic Salt. At 9w, it delivered a good flavour with a sweet taste at the back of the throat. It also provides plentiful vapour production. It performs the best at 12w. I’m very impressed by its lovely and smooth vapour production. Flavour is actually pretty decent. You can get a restricted DTL to draw the airflow is fully open. It delivers a really tight draw with the airflow fully turned off.
Battery and Charging
The Smok Novo 4 is supported by an 800mAh battery, which is quite well for such a compact device. It can be charged via a type-c port with a 0.74A charging rate. It takes about one hour to fully charged and lasts about 14 hours of use.

Verdict
Smok has done a decent job on the design of this well-made and full-featured Novo 4 device. It performs well as a standard MTL device. It is a beginner-friendly pod system with great flavour. If you are a new vaper in the market for a good MTL amount of vapour, the Smok Novo is the right one for you!
