Today I’m going to take a close look at their newest MORPH POD-40 starter kit, which is quite an impressive little bit of hardware. Powered by an integrated 2000mAh battery, it features an output range from 5 - 40W. Build Quality and Design
The Smok MORPH POD-40 is a nice-looking device. It is made of zinc-alloy chassis construction that feels pretty lightweight in the hands. The leather design covering the construction is quite nice, very comfortable to touch. On one side of the device, there is branding “MORPH POD-40”, leaving a really clean look to it.
Sizing in at 108.35mm by 37.2mm by 28.35mm, it’s not the most compact device in the vaping world, but it does have a very nice form factor. Instead of being super small, it can slip into your pocket easily for some out and about vaping.
The SMOK MORPH POD-40 comes with an ergonomic design. It features a large side fire key button, delivering an easy and comfortable pressing. On the front of the device, there are two minimal adjustment buttons, which have a nice click to them.
A large square screen is well placed above the adjustment buttons. It is bright and easy to read, clearly display the vaping info like coil resistance, battery level with percentage, wattage. The USB Type-C port is well positioned on the bottom.
Overall, Smok MORPH POD-40 is really great quality-wise, a little extra weight would give it a high end feel.
Functions and Features
MORPH POD-40 is integrated with a 2000mAh battery and enhanced chipset to deliver excellent performance and versatile operation.
As you expected from other devices, it adopts multiple safety protections are provided to avoid potential risks, including high-temperature protection, lithium-ion protection, short-circuit protection, low voltage warning, 8 seconds cut-off and intelligent atomizer recognition.
The MORPH POD-40 features an ergonomic mouthpiece with a narrow bore, which is perfect to deliver an enhanced throat hit. Your taste bud can be fully satisfied with every inhalation.
Performance
The Smok Morph Pod-40 is paired with a 3.7mL Pod and compatible with the SMOK RPM Mesh coil series. It features a press-fit coil installation and a magnetic pod connection. It also uses a convenient top fill system with a silicone stopper. I had no experienced leaking after refilled it a few times.
How to fill the Smok Morph Pod-40
- Step 1: open the slot on the pod by pulling back the rubber plug.
- Step 2: inject up to 3.7ml of e-liquid into the slot and press the rubber plug back carefully and firmly.
- Step3: firmly push the pod back into the morph pod-40 device.
The kit comes with different coils, a 0.4ohm RPM mesh coil and a 0.6ohm RPM Triple mesh coil. Both of them work perfectly with the MORPH POD-40 Pod to offer you a smooth flavour and satisfying throat-hit. I started off the 0.4ohm RPM mesh coil with my favourite Billiards 70VG/30PG short fill juice. When it is rated for 10w, the flavour was not very spot on. When it went up to 25w, it delivered a very decent flavour and vapour. I’ve been using the 0.6ohm coil on around the 25 Watt and it held up remarkably well. Both of them are very long-lasting coils.
The airflow adjustment that Smok has provided with the MORPH POD-40 is awesome, allowing you to jump from a really nice MTL to an enjoyable DTL draw. It’s nicely done and works a treat.

Verdict
Great work, SMOK! I have really enjoyed using this compact kit. It ticks a lot of boxes with a pretty nice form factor. It can be easily slipped in your jean pocket and away you go. The battery can support a day worth of powerful vaping. The adjustable airflow provides easy vaping for both DTL and MTL. If you are looking for a compact device with excellent performance, I would highly recommend you to give it a try!
