What is a vape coil?

The  is the heart of your vape device, sometimes referred to as an atomizer, which serves to heat the e-liquid in your tank and turn it into vapour that you inhale. It is usually located at the tank and can be dragged out.

What is in a vape coil?

A vape coil comprises a metal wire, wicking material, and casing. The metal wire is a kind of resistance wire that is either formed from strips of resistance mesh or is wrapped in a conventional coil; The wicking substance, which is commonly organic cotton, absorbs the e-liquid and feeds it to the heating element. And a coil's housing only holds everything together and enables simple installation of the coil in your tank or pod. 

What does a coil do in a vape?

Simply put, if you press the firing button or puff your mouthpiece to start vaping, the battery will send power to the metal wire, then the wire heat up the wicking material that has fully soaked up with e-juice, and finally an amount of vapour is created for your inhalation. 

How many types of coils?

Based on the forms of metal wire, you can choose a traditional coil or a mesh coil, the latter offers a stabler heating system while the former does not.

Sorted by the types of wicking material, there are cotton wicks coil and ceramic wicks coil for you, the ceramic coil provides a longer lifespan than the cotton one.  

According to the resistance of the coil, you can have a DTL(Direct to Lung) vaping experience via a sub-ohm coil, which means its resistance is lower than 1ohm. Other coils’ resistance higher than 1ohm can offer you an MTL(Mouth to Lung) inhalation.

How to get your coil ready to use?

Every time you start to use a new coil or just change a new flavour, it is suggested you prime your coil properly to prevent you from getting a burnt hit. What you need to do just drip some drops on the inlets of your coil to soak up the coil, then install the coil in your pod/tank and add your vape juice into the pod/tank, and keep it stay for about ten minutes to fully saturate it. After that, you can take a few drags through the mouthpiece without firing up the e-cig to help absorb more e-juice into the coil. 

Can you clean your coil?

Of course, you can. The most simple way is to rinse it through running water after you remove it from the vape kit. If you want to further renew it, you can use household items like ethanol, vinegar, or cheap vodka to soak your coil for at least a couple of hours. Then rinse it through running water and dry it.   

How long do vape coils last?

Generally, you can replace a new coil weekly or twice a week, or monthly, it depends on how frequently you use it and how powerful your vape device is. But how to know when your coil needs changing? If you get a burnt taste or hear a gurgling sound, it is advisable to replace the coil to bring your great vape experience back. 

How to change a coil?

Assemble your tank according to the instructions on your vape, take out the old coil, prime a new coil as we mentioned, and then reassemble your tank. Finally, test your vape by taking a typical inhalation. 

Is there anything I can do to make the coil last longer?

There are four tips to maintain your coil. one is well prime your coil; The second, you can choose a low wattage to lessen the consumption of your coil; the third, you should avoid chain vaping and take a break between every puff to prevent a dry hit. The last one is the selection of vape juice, the high PG blend of e-liquid is the best approach to protect your coil because PG is thinner than VG, and high VG concentration options are easy to clog your coil.
